In other words, it pertains to how precisely the "taiyaki maker" and "taiyaki" align with each other. <Why It Needs to Be Checked> There are various reasons for this. For example, when two paired objects slide against each other, having a good fit leads to smoother movement and eliminates vibrations or noise. It also prevents uneven wear since only specific areas do not rub against each other. <How to Check> Apply a thin layer of a marking paste (red paste) or blue paste to the reference surface. Press the item being inspected against the area where the marking paste has been applied and check how much of the paste transfers to the item. If the shapes match, the marking paste will transfer uniformly; if there are differences in shape, only parts will make contact, resulting in partial transfer of the paste. <Common Inquiries> Most inquiries are about checking the fit of shapes such as spherical or tapered convex and concave forms. The typical application is to verify whether the shape of mass-produced products aligns with the established reference.

However, bringing items into a measurement room for testing can be very cumbersome. There is likely a need to "measure" right on the spot where the item was created. In such cases, preparing dedicated measuring instruments is the simplest solution. <We will brainstorm> Since gauges require precision, it is ideal to use them in an environment where temperature and humidity are constant. The measurement points include, similar to serration shapes: 1. Major diameter 2. Minor diameter 3. Tooth surface The measurement methods are also similar. For male shapes: 1. Major diameter: Measured with a ring gauge 2. Minor diameter: Measured with a special ring gauge designed to avoid interference with the tooth surface 3. Tooth surface: Measured with a dedicated gauge using OPD or OBD For female shapes: 1. Minor diameter: Measured with a plug gauge 2. Major diameter: Measured with a special plug gauge designed to avoid interference with the tooth surface 3. However, if the wear is on the micron level (0.001 mm), it is impossible to visually confirm the wear condition. Of course, it cannot be measured with a ruler either. For simple shapes, the following methods can be used for measurement: 1. Measure with calipers (approximate: 0.1 mm unit) 2. Measure with a micrometer (approximate: 0.01 mm unit) 3. Use block gauges for comparative measurement with a dial gauge (approximate: 0.001 mm unit) <Easily Measure> The quickest way is to prepare a dedicated thickness gauge (thickness gauge). Standard thickness gauges are also available for sale, but depending on the shape of the product and the measurement location, it may only be possible to measure partially, or in the worst case, measurement may not be possible at all. By preparing a dedicated measuring instrument (gauge), it is easy to obtain the same quality evaluation results regardless of who measures it. Dedicated measuring tools are specially designed based on product drawings and manufactured according to the design specifications. As an application, it is also possible to measure the width (height, depth, etc.) of grooves.
