Our Ajiro board can be processed to accommodate curved surfaces, except for some products. When conventional (off-the-shelf) Ajiro boards are installed on curved surfaces, gaps can occur between the veneer. However, our '3D Ajiro' minimizes these gaps due to its special processing. For large ceiling areas where on-site delivery and installation are not feasible, we pre-split the Ajiro and apply joint processing after installation on-site. It is also suitable for customers who do not want to include edge materials like batten strips. Our company conducts daily research on flame-retardant, fire-resistant, and non-combustible treatments for solid wood, primarily focusing on bamboo materials. The fire resistance standards set by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism specify that the total heat release must be below 8 MJ/m² in a 5-minute combustion test. However, our test results for the Yokotake Board with bamboo veneer show a value of 1.8 MJ/m². The Moso bamboo, which grows in the extreme temperature variations of Kyoto, is excellent in wear resistance, and the closer you get to the surface, the denser the vascular bundles become. Therefore, by carefully selecting only the reliable parts by skilled craftsmen and steaming them under high pressure, we create a durable shikii suberi that does not warp in dimensions.
