Many coin sensors used in vending machines and the like employ magnetic sensors to distinguish between types of coins and to verify their authenticity (for example, see Patent Document 1). Figure 7 shows an example of a conventional coin sensor 1 that uses such a magnetic sensor. This coin sensor 1 consists of a core 4 with a gap where a coin 2 passes through, around which a first coil 5 and a second coil 6 are wound.
