Nippon Electric Glass has developed two types of magneto-optical glass: one with approximately twice the magneto-optical performance compared to conventional terbium-gallium-garnet (Tb3Ga5O12:TGG) single crystals, and another specialized for large diameters, and assembles them into light isolators in-house. In manufacturing, the glass allows for improved homogeneity and the removal of internal stress, resulting in a light isolator that is of higher quality and stable mass production compared to TGG single crystals.
