We have successfully developed a plant stress load cultivation device that applies stress in a fully controlled plant factory to enhance the functional components that plants inherently possess. This system automatically controls the temperature, humidity, pH value, EC value, dissolved oxygen, and mineral composition in the nutrient solution to increase the functional components of functional vegetables (ice plant). We enhanced a rare functional component (pinitol) during the cultivation process, leading to the development of Gracitol (a health food) that utilizes the powder (whole foods) and components (pinitol) of this functional vegetable (ice plant). The stress-load cultivation method is a way of growing plants in an environmentally controlled plant factory, where conditions are set to create stress for the plants, such as temperature and humidity. This method successfully brings out the potential of plants and dramatically increases the nutritional value of ice plants (such as vitamins, polyphenols, and fruit acid concentration).
