We are pleased to announce that "Alphan GPP," a biomass plastic blended OPP developed by Prince Eftex Co., Ltd. (President: Hirokazu Yasui, Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo), has been adopted for the packaging (bands) of natto and tofu sold by the Green Coop Cooperative Federation (Representative Director: Yoshiko Hidaka, Headquarters: Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture). Alphan GPP is an OPP film blended with biomass plastic made from waste cooking oil derived from plant-based edible oils. By incorporating biomass plastic, it contributes to the conservation of petroleum resources and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The Green Coop Cooperative Federation aims to create a community where everyone can live with peace of mind and is engaged in the development of safe and secure products. In 2000, they formulated the "Green Coop Environmental Policy," based on which they actively participate in the 4R movement (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). Alphan GPP has been adopted for the packaging of natto and tofu made from domestically produced soybeans, aligning with the philosophy of this initiative. Our company will continue to advance the development of environmentally friendly products and contribute to a sustainable society.

At the bagel specialty store "MARUICHI BAGEL," located in Shimbashi, Tokyo, we have adopted the non-fluorinated oil-resistant paper "O-hajiki" for sandwich wrapping. "O-hajiki" achieves oil resistance using only paper materials and does not use PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), which raise concerns about environmental and health impacts. In this adoption, we received recognition for the peace of mind provided by not using PFAS, our commitment to environmental considerations, and the natural texture of the paper material, which harmonizes with MARUICHI BAGEL's brand concept. Moving forward, our company will continue to develop environmentally friendly paper materials and new materials derived from wood, contributing to a sustainable society. MARUICHI BAGEL is a bakery that offers authentic New York-style bagels made from carefully selected ingredients and unique methods, gaining support from many bagel fans. Hattori Co., Ltd. declares its motto as "Creating products that are kind to people and the Earth" and aims to contribute to initiatives that enhance the attractiveness of local living through the achievement of the SDGs and pass it on to the next generation. One of the environmentally friendly products they handle is our Calfresh, which has been adopted for use as an antibacterial sheet for bento boxes. It has been recognized for utilizing scallop shells that would otherwise be treated as waste, suppressing bacterial growth, and contributing to the reduction of food loss, aligning with their SDGs initiatives. It is also used by bento chain stores and is available for sale online. Calfresh is an OPP film blended with fine powder from scallop shells. The film surface becomes alkaline due to moisture from food, which suppresses bacterial growth. This is the first time this product has been adopted for use as an antibacterial sheet.

Eftax Co., Ltd. has launched a new product, "O-hajiki(W)FDA CoC," a non-fluorinated oil-resistant paper that considers the environment and health, compliant with FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) standards. The new product "O-hajiki(W)FDA CoC" not only does not use fluorinated oil repellents but also meets the chemical composition and product safety standards set by the FDA, making it suitable for overseas expansion. This product also supports the issuance of documentation confirming compliance with FDA standards. *1 Conventional fluorinated oil repellents have used PFAS (a type of organic fluorine compound) for oil resistance and water repellency. Concerns about the impact of PFAS on human health have been reported in recent years, leading to movements to restrict its use in Europe and the United States. *2 The product complies with the usage conditions and food classifications outlined in U.S. FDA 21 C.F.R. §176.170 and §176.180, meeting all food classifications under usage conditions E (room temperature filling and storage) and H (frozen or refrigerated for reheating purposes).
