■This is a device that collects remote weather and geological data and transmits it to a server via packet communication along with still images from a camera. ■By using an optional battery and solar system, it can be used in places without commercial power supply. ■Data can be monitored in real-time from a computer or smartphone web browser. ■The interval for data transmission can be set arbitrarily, and the observation data can be used in CSV format.

Free membership registrationThe analog measurement signals that can be extended via wireless (LoRa communication) are available in three types: 4-20mA, 0-1V, and 0-5V. A trigger signal to the master unit allows the slave unit to output preheat power (DC24V) and start analog measurement. Power supply to the sensors is provided only when necessary, achieving energy savings. LoRa communication enables use in areas without mobile phone coverage (dead zones). The power input ranges from DC5V to DC30V, allowing use in locations where commercial power (AC100V) is not available. (LoRa is a registered trademark of Semtech Corporation.)

Free membership registrationThe connection connector is RS-232C/D-SUB9 pin. It can be easily connected to various devices (loggers, sensors, PCs, packet communication devices, etc.). With LoRa communication, it can be used in areas without mobile phone coverage (dead zones). The line-of-sight communication distance between LoCom Mate S and LoComStar+ is up to 15 km. By using the LoCom Extender (sold separately) to further relay between LoCom Star+ and LoCom Mate S, communication is possible even in mountainous areas and urban areas with many obstacles. (LoRa is a registered trademark of Semtech Corporation.)

Free membership registrationThe LoCom series is a unit that enables wireless communication using LoRa technology. By using LoCom Star+ as the master unit, it is possible to connect one master to multiple slave units, including LoCom MateS (serial communication type), LoCom Mate I, V1, V2 (analog measurement type), and LoCom Mate C8 (contact signal measurement type), allowing for the aggregation and reception of outputs from sensors installed at multiple locations from a distance. A maximum of 32 units can be connected. (LoRa is a registered trademark of Semtech Corporation.)

Free membership registrationBy using "LoRaStar," it becomes possible to perform RS232C communication wirelessly, which was previously done via wired connections. There are no communication costs, and additional benefits include reduced wiring costs, space-saving due to the absence of wiring, and extended communication range (up to 15 km in line of sight). For example, it can be used to connect RS232C devices (such as data loggers and sensors) installed in outdoor locations where wiring is difficult to data collection devices (such as PCs and packet communication devices). The power supply is typically input from a screwless terminal block using an external power source (5-30V). It is assumed that batteries or AC/DC converters will be used as external power sources. Power input (5V) is also possible from a 9-pin DSUB connector, which is effective when the connected device can supply power from the DSUB connector. Additionally, by using the relay terminal "LoRaExtender," which is also being released, wireless communication can be achieved even in areas with poor visibility, such as mountainous regions or urban areas. The "LoRaExtender" can be used in power-free zones by utilizing the optional "solar unit."
