At MENTEC Co., Ltd., we handle "transport carts." We received requests from customers who wanted carts with cushioning to transport easily damaged workpieces. However, using standard casters with cushioning mechanisms resulted in a problem where the height during transfer varied depending on the weight of the load, making transfer impossible. Therefore, instead of using casters that change height during transfer, we developed a mechanism within the main body that allows the cushioning to be turned on and off with a lever operation, protecting the workpieces during transport and fixing the height during transfer. We would like to introduce a new design and manufacturing case of a conveyor by Mentech. In this case, we addressed three main requests. First, the existing conveyor had issues where the jig tilted during work loading and transportation, frequently causing the conveyor to stop due to workpiece drops and resulting in scratches on the workpieces. Therefore, improvements were necessary. Additionally, we received a request to create a sloped transport surface from the loading area to the extraction area, and from a safety perspective, to install sensors that detect when a person's hand enters the transport surface, leading to an immediate stop. In response, we re-evaluated the workpiece receiving jig from scratch and began considering the use of resin materials to prevent scratches. We designed it to ensure that the workpieces are always held and transported parallel to the floor in accordance with the slope. The "Escargot Conveyor" handled by Maintenance Co., Ltd. is a hinge belt conveyor equipped with escargot that demonstrates its power with long, thin chips. The failure of the conveyor is largely caused by the introduction of long chips to the return side, and the work to remove them is very dangerous.
