"Tempered glass and double-strength glass" are types of glass that are heated near their softening point (650°C to 700°C) and then rapidly cooled by uniformly blowing air onto them, creating a compressive layer on the glass surface. Even if the glass breaks, it shatters into small particles, significantly reducing the risk of injury from sharp fragments. Double-strength glass has twice the thermal resistance to sudden temperature changes, while tempered glass has several times the resistance, and both have two to several times the thermal breakage strength compared to float glass.
