Once the oil is solidified by the Oil Gator, it will not re-dissolve even if it comes into contact with rain or water. The absorbed oil breaks down into water and carbon dioxide within 4 to 6 months, and the material itself biodegrades and returns to the soil within 6 to 10 months. (The Oil Gator contains microorganisms that thrive on oil, using it as food. It also includes nutrients necessary for the growth of these microorganisms.) Once the oil has been solidified by the Oil Gator, there is no need for recovery.
