We would like to introduce a case where we developed an "antenna for an asteroid exploration rover." As background, there was a request for the development of an antenna to be used for communication between the "asteroid exploration rover" and the Hayabusa2 spacecraft. As a solution, we selected substrate materials that meet environmental conditions and aimed to minimize thickness, height, and weight to reduce the impact of vibration during launch, while also enabling placement in the gaps between solar panels. We received a request to develop an ultra-small antenna for use in a 6U-sized CubeSat, with the background of wanting to further miniaturize the X-band antenna developed for the small satellites "Hodoyoshi" and "Procyon" to be mounted on a 6U-sized ultra-small satellite. As a solution, for the X-band antenna, we innovated the shape and structure of the antenna itself to control directivity and gain, while for the Ka-band antenna, we incorporated material selection and structural innovations to balance strength and electrical performance. As background, radars mounted on satellites and aircraft require adjustments using ARC, and since satellites and aircraft do not remain in a fixed location, there was a demand for a portable ARC that allows for easy movement and high flexibility in radar adjustments. As a solution, we enabled transportation by dividing the system into antenna, electronic equipment, control, and digital receiver components, making it possible to transport with a small truck. In the frequency range of 300 MHz to 6 GHz, we aimed to divide it into 5 bands as needed, achieving vertical polarization with omnidirectionality in the horizontal plane and a VSWR of less than 3.5 for each band. As a solution, we used a shortened dipole antenna element for the low-frequency band and a biconical antenna element for the high-frequency band, creating a central-fed hybrid configuration that allows for a single shared input terminal. We were consulted on the development of a small, lightweight medium-gain antenna and a low-elevation directional antenna for use in the X-band. The medium-gain antenna, which is used for high-speed data communication, requires high gain and wideband characteristics. As a solution, the medium-gain antenna was designed as a 4-element patch array to achieve miniaturization and lightweight. The low-elevation antenna was structured as a helical antenna to suppress zenith gain and shape the beam to peak in the 30° elevation direction.
