The "small tube cleaning work" is a project aimed at improving the heat exchange function and reliability by cleaning the small tubes of the condenser in power plants. The small tubes of the seawater cooling system in power plants not only experience a decrease in heat exchange rate due to slime, purple mussels, and barnacles, but also cause pinholes in the tubes due to the attachment of marine organisms, erosion from changes in flow velocity, and deposit attacks occurring in the surrounding area. Unfortunately, routine cleaning with sponge balls and backwashing alone cannot completely remove the attached organisms. Thorough cleaning is necessary during regular inspections. In our small tube cleaning work, we remove dirt using "bullet cleaning," as well as "spin brushing" and "hydrobit cleaning." **Cleaning of Plate Heat Exchangers** Cleaning is performed both chemically and physically through two processes: chemical cleaning and blow cleaning. Since the plates are not disassembled, the construction period is short, and there is no risk of gasket deterioration or damage. **Cleaning of Tube Heat Exchangers** We perform "bullet cleaning" by injecting a cleaner into the small tubes and pushing it out with water pressure. A scraper-type cleaner is used for hard scale, while a brush-type cleaner is used for soft scale. Stubborn dirt is physically pushed out. We can clean not only heat exchangers but also pipes ranging from small to large diameters (50φ to 500φ). The "Mitti Mouse Cleaning Machine" is a handheld cleaning device that performs powerful mechanical cleaning of the inner surfaces of heat exchanger tubes. The tube sizes that can be cleaned range from an inner diameter of 8mm to 125mm. "Spin brushing cleaning" is a mechanical cleaning method that removes scale from the inner surface of small tubes using a flexible wire shaft. The cleaning device is very compact and does not require a large space like a jet vehicle. Various cleaning tools can be attached to the tip of the shaft, and cleaning water is sprayed from the center of the shaft, while the cleaning tools rotate to remove dirt from the inner surface of the small tubes through friction. We offer a "Leak Detection Service for Condenser Cooling Pipes." The detection work is carried out while operating the condenser in a single-ended mode, and the pressure regulating valve is opened for about 10 seconds to disperse helium. It is necessary to set up scaffolding in the water chamber on the helium dispersion side. The inner surface of the small tubes of copper alloy heat exchangers using seawater as cooling water needs to have a protective film formed to improve corrosion resistance. Generally, a method is adopted where iron ions are injected into the cooling water to form a protective film of iron hydroxide on the surface of the small tubes. However, excessive injection of iron ions can lead to a decrease in thermal efficiency, while insufficient injection of iron ions cannot achieve adequate corrosion resistance. Therefore, our company conducts monitoring surveys to confirm that an appropriate initial iron film has been formed.
