In order to promote local industries in Niigata, we are considering "how we can be of help with IT" and, with the cooperation of Dainichi Koi Farm Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Ojiya City, Niigata Prefecture), we are working on the development of a "Koi Individual Identification System." The koi farming industry relies heavily on the experience and intuition of craftsmen. It was difficult for the on-site personnel alone to grasp the entirety of this vast and complex data and to capture abnormal data that indicates signs of failure. By combining the operational knowledge of the personnel with our data analysis technology, we created a model from the operational data that aids in failure prediction. At Company A's Niigata factory, visual inspections of product appearance (determining pass/fail and identifying defects) are conducted manually, which is a time-consuming and labor-intensive task. Improving productivity and quality in these visual inspections, as well as streamlining the inspection process, has been an urgent issue to address. A machine learning model (AI) was created to determine pass/fail and identify defects based on past product inspection images, and it was implemented in the inspection process.
