Microneedles are an effective method for drug delivery that allows the needle portion to penetrate the skin barrier, enhancing drug permeation. However, traditional methods for preparing microneedles require time and specialized molds, making them very labor-intensive. By utilizing 3D printing technology, it is expected to significantly reduce working time, allow customization of shapes and sizes, and revolutionize the manufacturing process of microneedles. However, particularly when using water as the main solvent, the solubility of drugs in the resin for printing poses a challenge. This not only leads to harm to animals but also contradicts the efforts to improve the quality of science by using human organ models. In this webinar, Professor Jens Kurreck from the Technical University of Berlin will introduce his work on a xenofree liver model.
