We would like to introduce a case study of a mold manufacturing challenge that we addressed. There were issues with sliding and the entry and exit of cylinder pins in all directions, and the structure was very complex, requiring precise temperature control. To address this, we devised a way for positioning pins to fit into the mold. By suppressing vibrations on the insert supply side, the insert operation was able to proceed smoothly. Additionally, to make it easier for the insert parts to enter and less likely to fall out, we extended the pins on the cavity side. To address this, a "double-wing robot" (Yushin model RAII-α-400-M-MS) was used, which has two arms for aligning the inserts and for product retrieval plus insert insertion. Positioning pins were added to the chuck table, and by minimizing vibrations during the insertion of parts into the mold, we successfully leveled the insert supply side and the mold side.
