In the United States and Canada, the nominal voltage of each power system is specified by standards. In Japan, the voltage supplied to general household power outlets is 100V, but for products intended for the United States and Canada, they should be designed to operate within a range of minimum and maximum voltages. Therefore, designing with an input rated voltage of only "100V" would violate regulations and is not advisable.
