Our company offers a service for creating Safety Data Sheets (SDS) that meet the legal requirements of various countries. The SDS is intended to provide information regarding the handling of products within the target country, but it may also be required for customs procedures during import and export. Upon request, we can create draft SDS for the Japanese domestic market or SDS (MSDS) that comply with the languages and regulations of various countries overseas. When creating SDS, we utilize the latest databases of official substance information and domestic regulations that we have directly investigated and edited. (While GHS classification in accordance with the revised Labor Safety and Health Act is essential, we leverage many information sources, including not only GHS classification information publicly available from the government but also our independently classified data and classification result databases used overseas.) Even for products that require individual investigation, our specialized researchers can provide support. We have established a workflow for classification of hazardous properties in accordance with GHS, following guidelines from the United Nations and other sources. Through assessments and verifications related to GHS classification, we implement problem-solving proposals.

Free membership registrationTranslators with expertise and practical experience in the field of chemistry will form teams with specialists and natives as needed to carry out translations. There are generally two types of translations for Safety Data Sheets (SDS): one that faithfully translates the original content (simple translation) and another that is created in compliance with the regulations of the target country (GHS compliant). Our company can accommodate both options. In Japan, the GHS-type domestic standard is JIS Z7253, while the international standard is ISO 11014, and the descriptions are standardized. Based on these standards, our company prepares documents in accordance with domestic regulations such as the Chemical Substances Control Law, the Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Law, the Industrial Safety and Health Law, and the PRTR Law, as well as considering trends in regulations from the United Nations, ISO, OECD, the United States, and EU countries, in line with the latest international standards. When requesting a quote, please let us know which option you prefer. *The continuation of this text can be viewed via the related link (our company blog).

Free membership registrationTranslation support tools have been in use for a long time, but I think it may be difficult for those outside the translation industry to understand what these tools are for. At Albis, we also use translation support tools, including Trados Studio. (1) Overview Translation support tools are programs that automatically retrieve reusable past translations from a database of paired source texts and translations known as translation memory (TM). The translation is ultimately performed by humans, and this is entirely different from AI translation, where computers perform the translation. Trados Studio, developed and sold by RWS, is a representative translation support tool, but tools like Memsource are also becoming widely used. Not all translators use translation support tools. Additionally, since each project has its own suitability, it is important to understand the characteristics of each tool.
