The Kunming-Montreal Biodiversity Framework was adopted in December 2022, setting the goal of halting biodiversity loss and putting it on a recovery trajectory by 2030, with a focus on being Nature Positive. To achieve this goal, the target of conserving over 30% of land and sea by 2030 is referred to as "30by30." To meet these objectives, the Ministry of the Environment certifies areas where biodiversity conservation is being promoted through private initiatives as Nature Coexistence Sites.
