■Overview A probe using a composite transducer as the core device of the transducer. In conventional probes, the echo from grain boundaries (noise echo) is large, resulting in a poor S/N ratio, making ultrasonic testing difficult for certain materials. By using composite core probes, noise reduction can be observed in ultrasonic testing of these materials, and an improvement in the S/N ratio can be expected.

This is an immersion probe used for non-contact ultrasonic testing, such as ultrasonic flaw detect performed with a scanning device while fully submerged in water. It is also used for automatic ultrasonic flaw detect equipment, semi-automatic ultrasonic flaw detect equipment, or ultrasonic flaw detect using the water column method. In addition to ultra-compact probes like "Chibita-kun" and "Pechako-san," standard-size probes are also available. The probe's frequency bandwidth comes in variations such as narrowband and broadband. Depending on the application, the focal type can be selected from flat (non-focused), point focus (PF), or line focus (LF). For standard-size probes, the connector can be chosen according to the customer's preference from three types: Microdot, UHF, or M-type connectors.

KGK, which developed the world's smallest probes "Chibi-ta-kun" and "Pechako-san," manufactures and sells insertion probes. These probes are used for thickness measurement and ultrasonic flaw detection by being inserted from the end faces of pipes such as heat exchanger tubes and hollow shafts. Additionally, insertion-type probes are useful for inspecting narrow and complex structures, such as the insertion parts of inspection jigs for aircraft engines. The insertion-type probes include various types, such as multi-channel probes that can be used in arrays, dual- element probes designed for thickness measurement, mirror-type reflective probes used for ultrasonic flaw detection and thickness measurement, angle-variable probes that can change the angle of the probe tip, and ultra-compact insertion probes. KGK designs and manufactures insertion-type probes tailored to the shape of the test specimen and the customer's requirements. Please contact us for more information.

In 1988, KGK developed the world's smallest ultrasonic probes: the ultra-compact probe “Chibita-kun” and the ultra-thin probe “Pechako-san.” Since then, KGK has offered a standard lineup of ultra-compact probes designed for ultrasonic testing in narrow and extremely small areas. Despite their small size, these reliable probes provide solid quality and performance. For vertical inspection and immersion testing, you can use the world’s smallest probes, “Chibita-kun” and “Pechako-san,” and for angle beam ultrasonic testing, you can choose from ultra-compact angle beam probes such as the UX, UM, and UA series, depending on your application. ● Ideal for testing in narrow spaces, etc. ● Ultra-small probes can scan surfaces that cannot be scanned with standard probes. ● ChibiTa-kun has φ2×3mmL (minimum) ● PechaKo-san has a thickness of 1mm ● We also welcome inquiries regarding size dimensions.

● Array probes are probes used for phased array and synthetic aperture focusing technique (TFM, FMC, SAFT, etc.) in ultrasonic flaw detection. ● Types include linear arrays, where transducers that transmit and receive ultrasound are arranged in a line; annular arrays, where transducers are arranged in concentric circles; and matrix arrays, where transducers are arranged in a grid pattern. ● Array probes can be manufactured not only in flat shapes but also in two-dimensional curved types, such as concave types that match the curvature of the test object, and even in three-dimensional curvature that sets the ultrasonic focus. There is also a wealth of experience with special specifications such as flexible,Insert inside and tire-shaped probes. Array probes are made up of multiple elements, with standard specifications ranging from 8 to 256 channels, but other numbers of elements can also be discussed. ● Standard support for 8 to 256 elements (other numbers of elements can also be discussed) ● There are many proven applications for straight beam inspection, angle beam inspection, immersion inspection, and using gel wedges, among others. ● Please consult us regarding frequency, transducer dimensions, channel count, connector shapes, etc.
