Unlike conventional CAM systems, FeatureCAM adopts a more efficient method for creating part programs. Instead of programming each roughing and finishing process individually, it simply creates parts using features. There is no need for operators to set machining instructions for each process as was done with previous CAM systems. By simply assigning features to the created or imported shapes, FeatureCAM automatically selects tools based on a database for all cutting processes, constructs cutting conditions automatically, and generates NC data. A major feature of FeatureCAM is its ease of use and memorability. By following the steps, users can create up to the final process. It displays surfaces, solids, processes, etc., in a tree structure for easy overview, and editing elements and processes is also straightforward.
