Nippon Ceramic Co., Ltd. has developed "D-Pyro," a passive infrared sensor equipped with digital communication capabilities that eliminates the need for analog circuits, aimed at applications such as security human detection sensors, energy management human detection sensors, and surveillance camera system human detection sensors.

• Sensors

A thermopile sensor is a type of thermal infrared sensor that generates a thermoelectric voltage in response to the amount of infrared radiation emitted by an object. It is capable of detecting the absolute amount of energy (temperature). While a pyroelectric infrared sensor detects changes in temperature due to the pyroelectric effect, which is a differential output, the thermopile sensor can detect the absolute value of temperature due to the thermoelectric effect.

• Sensors

It achieves a high S/N ratio along with high reliability. The development of ceramic elements that are strong against mechanical shock minimizes false alarms caused by vibrations and other factors. It has high EMC and passes all electromagnetic compatibility standards for human detection sensors. It also has high resistance to light other than infrared, which helps suppress malfunctions caused by headlights and similar sources.
