We are pleased to announce our sponsorship of the "Sorabear Sonair Project" by the NPO Sorabear Foundation, which will be the recipient of this support. The "Sorabear Sonair Project" aims to enhance the adaptability of preschool children during emergencies and to raise awareness about the environment and disaster prevention. This new initiative includes the donation of "portable power sources" and "solar panels," as well as the organization of educational programs on the environment and disaster prevention called "Sorabear Workshops" for the children. With a "portable power source," it is possible to charge smartphones and computers, which are essential for communication and information gathering during power outages, as well as to operate household appliances like electric kettles and microwaves. As lightweight materials such as CFRP and GFRP, FRP continues to be expected as a next-generation structural material. In this research, we successfully devised and prototyped a groundbreaking molding method that replaces the role of gas in an autoclave with thermally expandable microcapsules, making it simple and not limited by volume. We attempted a new FRP molding method that does not use an autoclave, utilizing the thermally expandable microcapsules discovered in this research, and achieved favorable results. In addition to cost reduction, the absence of volume restrictions allows for applications in ultra-large molded products that were previously unimaginable, thus expanding the range of applications.
