Miniature Ball Guide Set: Preload Design and Functionality

The miniature ball guide set consists of three components: the shaft, the bush, and the ball retainer. The outer circumference of the retainer (made of brass) is crimped with steel balls, minimizing the impact on operational performance. The shaft, steel balls, and bush undergo hardening and polishing processes, stabilizing the metal structure after hardening. The preloaded miniature ball guide set allows the steel balls crimped onto the retainer to roll freely in the gap between the shaft and the bush. It enables linear, rotational, and combined linear-rotational movements. In the case of linear motion, the movement stroke of the ball retainer operates within half the total length of the bush and the shaft, while the maximum movement stroke of the linear motion is determined by the total length of the ball retainer and the bush. The preload is calculated by adding twice the diameter (B) of the transmission element to the outer diameter (D) of the shaft and subtracting the inner diameter (d1) of the bush.
