On the other hand, utilizing the fluctuating electricity market for grid-scale battery business makes revenue predictability difficult, and the planning and operation of complex strategies involving entry into multiple markets pose a barrier to entry for operators. In this lecture, we will analyze and organize the changes that have occurred in the grid-scale battery business using the U.S. electricity market, which has been in place for over 10 years, and derive hypotheses applicable to the Japanese market. Specifically, we will use data from California's electricity market (CAISO), Texas's electricity market (ERCOT), and the Eastern U.S. electricity market (PJM) to analyze factors influencing arbitrage revenue opportunities in the wholesale electricity market, assess the saturation of ancillary services markets, and examine cases where changes in electricity market rules have altered the revenue models of grid-scale battery operators.
