Adoption of @mobi for equipment inspection robots for superconducting linear trains.
Panasonic Advanced Technology Co., Ltd., Tokai Passenger Railway Company, and Suzuki Motor Corporation have developed a prototype of an equipment inspection robot (hereinafter referred to as "Minervα") that automatically conducts visual inspections to improve the efficiency of inspection and maintenance operations for various mechanical equipment supporting the operation of the superconducting linear train.
This robot adopts the software package "@mobi" provided by Panasonic Advanced Technology Co., Ltd., making it the first in the railway industry to do so, and it is capable of autonomous movement. It is designed to safely navigate in narrow spaces autonomously. Furthermore, by incorporating robotic arm control functions and automatic charging capabilities, it automates the visual inspection process.
In the future, it is expected that the equipment inspection robot will be deployed along the Linear Chuo Shinkansen line to conduct visual inspections automatically, thereby reducing the time, effort, and burden associated with personnel traveling to the site for inspections.
