Contribution to decommissioning work

KromeK in the UK is developing HDR (High Dynamic Range CZT) to measure high-resolution radiation spectra in high radiation fields for the UK reprocessing facility (Sellafield). Currently, performance is expected to be FWHM 1% (Typical) @662 keV in environments of up to 2 Sv/hr. HDR is scheduled to be presented at the IEEE NSS conference in San Diego, USA, starting October 31 of this year. The anticipated outcome of HDR is the ability to perform qualitative analysis of radioactive materials (RI) in the environment of fuel debris retrieval operations. Spectral measurements in ultra-high radiation fields, where conventional detectors are completely ineffective, are highly anticipated.
