[Today's ANSYS] Analyzing oil flow and temperature inside the unit using ANSYS Fluent (Toyota Motor Corporation)

I would like to introduce information about how CAE and CFD are beneficial to society, as well as interesting application examples, primarily through articles from the information magazine "ADVANTAGE."
Here is an interview article featuring Toyota Motor Corporation.
Initially, the company had not made much progress in utilizing CFD due to the complexity of phenomena in the drive system. However, starting in the early 2000s, they began benchmarking for cooling simulations and conducted various verifications over several years.
↓
As a result, they decided on Fluent, which has high accuracy and can reproduce complex phenomena, from among many CFD codes.
↓
Previously, evaluations were conducted through prototypes and in-vehicle experiments, which resulted in significant losses if issues arose.
↓
Now, thermal evaluations can be conducted before the prototype vehicle is created, significantly shortening the development cycle and reducing the number of prototypes. Furthermore, simulation results can visualize which parts are effective for cooling, making it much easier to implement countermeasures.
↓
Until now, CAE has often been focused on cost reduction through the reduction of prototypes, but it is now being used for the purpose of "creating better cars."
