Durable for high-frequency and high-speed opening and closing use.

Traditionally, ball valves and butterfly valves have been widely used as compressed air-operated automatic valves that can open and close quickly and have low fluid flow resistance. However, they have had issues with "durability and high-speed operation." These issues are rarely problematic under normal usage conditions, but they can become significant in the switching valves for cooling water in the hot rolling lines of steel mills, which are used for high-frequency and high-speed opening and closing. Because the valve seat is made of a dynamic seal or metal seat, repeated operations lead to wear and damage of the valve seat, making it difficult to maintain good sealing performance over long periods. The limit for the number of open and close cycles was around 100,000 to 200,000 (about 10,000 to 20,000 cycles if the internal fluid is gas). Additionally, in cases of short opening and closing times (high-speed operation), the rapid stopping can cause a water hammer phenomenon, leading to a sudden pressure rise upstream of the valve, which adversely affects the seat packing and the valve body support bearings. This can damage the seat packing and support bearings, rendering the valve inoperable. To address these issues, we began the development of a cylinder valve as an automatic operation valve. As a result, we were able to not only solve the aforementioned problems but also complete the valve with various additional features.

The "PFA Lining Ball Valve PF2 Type" is a valve manufactured by Japan Valqua, with all wetted parts lined with scientifically inert PFA resin, offering excellent corrosion resistance. PFA resin has the best thermal stability among fluoropolymers and does not undergo aging or degradation even when exposed to high temperatures of 260°C for extended periods. Additionally, due to its full-flow structure, it has minimal fluid resistance and smooth flow, resulting in extremely low pressure loss. It generates a powerful alternating magnetic field, supporting the detection of defects such as cracks in welds and on metal surfaces. NDT Mart & Rental Co., Ltd. began selling its new electromagnetic ultrasonic thickness gauge, 'EMAT WIFI', on January 19, 2026. ◆ Electromagnetic Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge 'EMAT WIFI' The 'EMAT WIFI' is a thickness gauge that uses the electromagnetic ultrasonic (EMAT) method, which does not require a couplant (contact medium). Unlike conventional ultrasonic thickness gauges (UT), there is no need to apply a couplant; thickness measurements can be taken simply by placing the probe on the measurement target, making it ideal for beginners and screening in large-scale sites. It can measure materials with paint, scale, thick linings, and slight surface roughness, significantly reducing the hassle of pre-treatment. Additionally, it is equipped with WiFi communication capabilities, allowing for the confirmation and management of measurement data and waveforms in conjunction with smartphones and tablets. This facilitates smooth sharing of measurement results and data management on-site. It employs a dual measurement method using electromagnetic and eddy current techniques, allowing for automatic differentiation between ferrous and non-ferrous substrates to measure coating thickness. The measurement range accommodates up to 3,500μm, making it suitable for measuring coatings from general painting to heavy anti-corrosion coatings and linings. With a measurement speed of approximately 0.2 seconds, it allows for efficient measurements even in inspection tasks that require multiple points.
