A park developed with spring water as a local asset. Local Asset Utilization Spring Water Area (Iwate Prefecture)

The December feature is "Parks for Rest."
When people think of parks, they often envision parks with playground equipment like slides and swings. This time, we will introduce a park without play equipment where you can enjoy academic resources and views while resting. Wooden facilities contribute to creating a relaxing space.
This week, we will introduce the Local Resource Utilization Spring Water Area (Iwate Prefecture). It is a park developed as a local asset featuring the natural spring and the Itoyo (fish) and Mizu Aoi (wetland plant) in Otsuchi Town, Iwate Prefecture. We have provided signs and a gazebo that describe its contents.

Otsuchi Town in Iwate Prefecture has natural flowing wells (artesian wells) due to its geographical conditions, which are essential for daily life. Additionally, after the Great East Japan Earthquake, species such as Itoyo (fish) and Mizu Aoi (wetland plants) were discovered in this area, leading to the establishment of a park that preserves these as valuable local resources. The park features a shelter over the artesian well, signs explaining local resources, and a resting pavilion with a single pillar. Furthermore, the park is located near the Sanriku Railway Otsuchi Station, allowing visitors to view the Sanriku Railway.
