Renovation of the historic wooden bridge over the moat of the national treasure Matsue Castle. Kitso-mon Bridge, Chidori Bridge (Shimane Prefecture)

The feature for September is "Wooden Bridges."
Wooden bridges come in various scales and designs, including those that span historical townscapes and rivers from walking paths within parks. Zaiens, a member company of the Wooden Bridge Technology Association, conducts precise inspections of existing wooden bridges as part of infrastructure utilization, and carries out everything from renovation design to manufacturing in a consistent system.
This time, we will introduce the case of renovating two wooden bridges, "Kitasommon Bridge" and "Chidoribashi," which span the moat of Matsue Castle. Before the renovation, a precise inspection of the existing wooden bridges was conducted, followed by the corresponding renovation design.
