Zaiens, a member company of the Wooden Bridge Technology Association, conducts precise inspections of existing wooden bridges as part of infrastructure utilization, and carries out everything from renovation design to manufacturing in a consistent system.
This time, we introduce a case of renovating a wooden bridge over the Tamayu River in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture. A precise inspection of the existing wooden bridge was conducted, followed by design and renovation.

This is a wooden bridge over the Tamayu River in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture. It is located a little away from the Tamatsukuri Onsen area, but it is used as a pedestrian bridge and as a pathway for people's daily lives. A detailed inspection of the existing wooden bridge was conducted, followed by design and renovation work. The detailed inspection was carried out according to the inspection manual of the Wooden Bridge Technical Association, using a penetration resistance measuring device called "Resistograph" and a propagation velocity tester called "Fakopp".
