basic information
This device is based on the principle proposed by Kozeny-Carman, which states that "in a bed of powder composed of spherical particles, the total inner surface area of the pathways through which gas passes is equal to the total surface area of the powder, and the total volume of the pathways is equal to the void volume of the bed." It forms a bed (compressed body) of test powder with a constant porosity and determines the specific surface area based on the degree of resistance to a constant volume of air passing through that bed. This device is a powder fineness measuring instrument manufactured according to the JIS-R5201 standards and is commonly used as a method for measuring the specific surface area of cement.
