Gold leaf is made by beating gold together with small amounts of silver and copper to create a thin sheet. Its thickness is about 0.0001 millimeters. From 1 cubic centimeter of gold, approximately 100 square meters of gold leaf can be produced. Since processing gold into gold leaf allows for a high-quality shine over a large area, gold leaf has been used for various decorations since ancient times.
