The composition of main component B-type silica gel is over 99% silicon dioxide, making it an extremely stable chemical product. This silicon is a substance that constitutes about 60% of the Earth's crust and exists naturally as quartz and crystal. Silica gel is non-water-soluble, non-hygroscopic (liquefying), non-corrosive, and non-toxic. Its internal structure consists of countless gaps (pores), and when the surface area of these pores is combined, it amounts to approximately 450 square meters per gram of silica gel, which is equivalent to over 300 tatami mats, resulting in an enormous area. When humidity rises, it absorbs moisture from the surrounding environment, and when humidity decreases, it releases the absorbed moisture back into the air, stabilizing the humidity in the space. This action is repeated at room temperature. Due to its exceptional moisture absorption capacity during high humidity, it is particularly effective in preventing condensation. Its moisture absorption capacity can reach up to about 70% of its own weight in water vapor (humidity), and it also effectively adsorbs ammonia odors.
