When the surrounding temperature of the bimetal rises, the metal with the higher expansion does not expand, causing the bimetal to bend. When the temperature returns to its original state, the bimetal returns to its original condition. This principle is applied in bimetals, which are actually used in a "coil" shape. By fixing one end of this bimetal, it will rotate due to changes in the surrounding temperature, and if an indicator needle is attached to that end, it will indicate the temperature.
