Overload detection device for robots - Detects collisions between robots and fixtures to avoid prolonged line stoppages.
Overload detection points can be set arbitrarily, responding instantly to the occurrence of overload. By utilizing an air-pressurized chamber, it is possible to detect overloads applied to the robot and tools. Quick Stop employs a unique mechanism that uses an air chamber to "hold" force without relying on pneumatic bags, springs, or air cylinders. When an overload is applied, the sealing part is immediately released, and the air pressure within the chamber drops instantly.

The Quick Stop itself is a valve that releases pressurized air and functions even when a "stop" signal is present. Pressure drop is detected by a pressure switch, and the signal can be sent directly to the robot's emergency stop circuit or other stop circuits. The pressure switch is an aircraft-grade "micro" switch rated at 7amp-250VAC according to UL and CSA standards. By changing the air pressure within the chamber, the overload detection level can be easily adjusted to suit the operating conditions.
