Area A [General Rotational Transmission] This area features rotational transmission using commonly used types of gears. It introduces parallel axes (spur gears), skew axes (helical gears, worm gears), and perpendicular axes (bevel gears). Area B [Adjusting Center Distance with Displaced Gears] To mesh a small gear (with 24 teeth) with two large gears (one with 32 teeth and the other with 30 teeth) at the same center distance, the design incorporates the second large gear as a displaced gear with positive displacement. Since the two large gears differ by two teeth, the second large gear rotates two teeth faster than the first large gear. Area C [Anti-Backlash] In response to the demand for higher precision, there is an increasing design trend to minimize gear backlash (the play between gear teeth) to near zero. This area transmits rotation in an anti-backlash state to meet such requirements. It includes no-backlash gears using a scissor mechanism, a bevel gear box assembled compactly with minimal backlash, and in the final stage, it uses no-backlash gears and a round rack gear to transmit rotational motion to linear motion in a no-backlash state.
