basic information
Electroforming is a type of electroplating technology that allows for the deposition of metal ions through electrolysis onto the surface of a model (prototype), enabling the extremely faithful replication and reproduction of the model's shape and surface texture. Since the electroformed layer is stripped from the prototype to create the product, the electroformed products will have shapes that are the exact opposite of the prototype, down to the finest details of the surface. While a single electroforming process can yield a finished product that is the opposite shape of the prototype, it is also possible to perform additional electroforming on the stripped finished product to obtain a product that is identical in shape to the prototype. Materials such as copper, nickel, gold, and silver can be used for electroformed products. It accurately transfers the craftsmanship of natural materials like leather and washi paper, as well as techniques from metal engraving and forging.
