I analyzed the airflow when vehicles pass each other using the moving boundary problem.
It is known that there are significant fluctuations in speed and pressure before and after trains pass each other in narrow spaces such as tunnels and subway stations. This is very important for the design of vehicles, tunnels, and associated structures. In this analysis, we simulated the airflow and pressure fluctuations affecting the surroundings when the train bodies pass each other using a moving boundary problem. basic information
【Analysis Model and Conditions】 - The analysis space is a tunnel with a length of 200.0m, a width of 12.0m, and a height of 5.0m. - Two trains moving relatively to each other are each 100.0m long, 2.8m wide, and 4.0m high. - It is assumed that both trains are traveling at 22.2m/sec (80km/h) and will pass each other. - The total number of grids is 650×77×42=2,102,100. 【Analysis Results】 - The pressure distribution around the train bodies during the passing, along with velocity vectors and wind speed distribution, is illustrated. → Just before the trains pass each other, the pressure reaches a peak, and it rapidly changes from positive to negative pressure at the moment they pass. → In the wind speed distribution, turbulence generated after the train bodies pass is confirmed behind the vehicles (near the center of the space). - This method allows for easy modification of train shapes, station structures, and train speeds for analysis. ● For more details, please contact us or download the catalog.
