First landing in Japan! In Germany, all automatic car shaft processing manufacturers use this QASS equipment!
By using high-frequency impulse measurement, it is possible to detect cracks and changes in material structure during machining, welding, and high-frequency hardening! When pressure is applied to a material, the potential energy within the material increases, and if that pressure exceeds the material's maximum allowable elongation range, the material will break. This is because the potential energy is released as kinetic energy, resulting in stress cracks. When cracks occur, energy is released all at once, generating micro-crack chains that emit high-frequency impulses through the material and tools, inducing shock waves (impact waves) in the connected peripheral device components (= AE / Acoustic Emission).

Applications/Examples of results
1) Cracks that occur during the distortion correction of various shaft products (such as crankshafts, gear counter shafts, gear shafts, etc.) can be detected simultaneously during processing. 2) Cracks that occur during high-frequency hardening can be detected simultaneously during the hardening process. 3) Changes in events during machining can be expressed in terms of time, frequency, and energy distribution, allowing for the visualization of the machining conditions. * Since detection during processing is possible for both 1) and 2) above, the crack inspection that has traditionally been performed in the next process using magnetic testing, X-ray, and dye checks will no longer be necessary. Additionally, since the presence or absence of cracks can be confirmed for all processed items, improvements in processing quality and customer satisfaction can also be expected.
