Team Alinghi won the 31st America's Cup held in 2003, marking the first victory for a European team since 1851. In the 32nd America's Cup, they won in a dramatic race by just one second, and in the 33rd, they attempted to defend their title with a large boat but were defeated by BMW Oracle Racing, relinquishing their champion status.
