Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG), based in Cologne, Germany, has been utilizing a wide range of high-performance testing equipment from MTS Systems Corporation since 2001 to meet the needs of its Formula One vehicle development. In 2009, TMG made the formal decision to allow external customers to access its testing capabilities and the expertise of its dedicated staff. Instead of investing time and money into new testing systems, TMG explored ways to extend the versatility of its existing testing systems by modifying software and hardware. Over several weeks, TMG and MTS worked closely together to complete the technical modifications across the facility. A key modification was the addition of a step-down gearbox to TMG's custom transmission testing system, aimed at improving the accuracy of test lab evaluations by replicating the loads, pressures, and operating temperatures present in the gearbox environment. All of these systems play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of their operations and are indispensable when it comes to "manufacturing" products. MTS Japan, Inc. was established in June 1972 with a 50% investment from MTS Systems Corporation. In May 1975, it became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, and in 1981, we established the Nagoya branch (now the West Japan branch) to strengthen our sales and support system, which continues to this day.
