They combine filtration and dewatering functions in one unit, providing clear filtered water through a filtration aid, filtration membrane, and circulation filtration structure. Dewatering is performed using compressed air, allowing for the recovery of solid materials. Difficult-to-filter wastewater can undergo body feed filtration with the addition of filtration aids. Organic matter filtration can be achieved through adsorption filtration using powdered activated carbon.
