A portable Compton camera using HPGe semiconductor detectors has finally been released.
GeGI3, developed for homeland security, displays the location and isotopes of radioactive materials on images captured by a CCD camera. The Compton camera used in GeGI3 has already been put to practical use in the fields of medicine and astrophysics, but it has been released as the world's first portable type using Ge-Ge technology.
