MTS has developed a new steering test device that enables low torque evaluation and measurement.
MTS has developed a steering head module that accurately measures low torque in accordance with real phenomena. The innovative design incorporates a torque sensor, motor, and angle measurement encoder in a built-in configuration to optimize steering input. This module can set up input stiffness and inertial forces adapted to actual vehicle inputs, allowing for the high-resolution reproduction of important low torque areas.

basic information
The hydraulic steering test devices developed so far have focused on high torque events based on real phenomena, but in recent years, efforts have been made to pursue electric power steering systems and individual steering responses, or driver feel. Steering developers now require test beds that can accurately measure important low torque, necessitating testing equipment with appropriate steering system inertia and stiffness corresponding to real vehicle inputs. Significant advancements from previous testing technologies are required. To expand the versatility of testing, a new modular steering wheel has been introduced, eliminating the hassle of reconfiguring components each time the steering input conditions change, allowing for easy connections. Steering inputs can be applied to the steering rack, I-shaft fastening points, or the steering column. It also possesses the capabilities and precision necessary for conducting conventional steering durability tests. The new steering head module will be supplied with all MTS steering test devices, and combinations with existing MTS testing equipment will also be considered. For more details, please contact us.

MTS Japan, Inc. is the Japanese subsidiary of the American engineering company MTS Systems Corporation, which specializes in various testing equipment. For over 40 years, we have provided engineering consulting services to users in Japan, delivering earthquake simulation systems, automotive durability testing systems, aircraft fatigue testing equipment, and various material testing devices to public institutions, universities, and private companies in our country. All of these systems play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of their operations and are indispensable when it comes to "manufacturing" products. MTS Japan, Inc. was established in June 1972 with a 50% investment from MTS Systems Corporation. In May 1975, it became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, and in 1981, we established the Nagoya branch (now the West Japan branch) to strengthen our sales and support system, which continues to this day. Through collaboration with MTS, we achieve optimization of design, improvement of productivity, and reduction of time to market for our customers' products.
