In both types of processing, a pulsed laser that generates very short pulse widths in the microsecond or nanosecond range is used to instantly evaporate the material. Additionally, in polymer materials such as resins, by irradiating lasers with short wavelengths like YAG lasers, a photochemical reaction occurs where the bonds between atoms or molecules are broken and evaporated instantly, which is referred to as ablation.
