The Ellicon Leybold Roots pumps (mechanical booster pumps) have the following four series: - Roots vacuum pump RUVAC WA/WAU: air-cooled, flange-type motor* - Roots vacuum pump RUVAC WS/WSU: air-cooled, canned motor** - Roots vacuum pump RUVAC WH/WHU: water-cooled, hermetic motor*** - Roots vacuum pump RUVAC WSLF: for laser gas systems *In the flange-type motor, the motor and pump drive shaft are directly connected by a coupling, and the drive shaft is sealed with a shaft seal. **In the canned motor, the rotor and stator inside the motor are separated by a non-magnetic airtight can. The rotor side is in a vacuum, but it does not use a shaft seal that would wear out. ***The hermetic motor has all components of the motor assembly incorporated within the vacuum, eliminating the need for a shaft seal, making it the most compact and efficient motor technology.

Among the roots pumps of the Erikon Libolt, the WAU, WSU, and WHU are equipped with a bypass line that includes a differential pressure valve connecting the intake and exhaust ports, allowing for simultaneous activation with the auxiliary pump from atmospheric pressure, while also increasing the exhaust speed even at high intake port pressures.
