In recent years, due to the lightweighting of automobiles, "aluminum materials" and electronic components made primarily of soft metals such as copper and nickel have been processed using press technology. However, in mass production environments, various troubles have arisen due to the workpiece adhering to the punch. Adhesion is believed to be partly due to the high affinity between the punch material and these workpieces. Therefore, Punch Industry has commercialized R-coated punches with a hydrogen-free DLC surface treatment, which is primarily composed of carbon and has low affinity for aluminum and soft metals. This document introduces the specifications, features, and case studies of our hydrogen-free DLC "R Coat." Please use this document for the materials adopted in our R-coated punches.
