Contributing to material selection in product design!
We received a consultation regarding issues in developing a measuring device to measure the dimensions and weight of cardboard at the set manufacturer. Points and Problems: 1. We prototyped the top plate (8t×665×420) using polycarbonate resin (PC) to measure dimensions with an infrared sensor, but it got scratched, causing the sensor to malfunction. 2. We would like you to find a material that is resistant to scratches and does not warp under load. 3. We would like a transparent material that provides a cover so that the internal components of the machine are not fully visible.

basic information
We proposed acrylic resin, which is also used in large aquariums. Points and Issues 1. Transparency Issue The transparency rate of polycarbonate is 76%, while acrylic is 92%, and it does not cause false activation of infrared sensors. 2. Warping Issue With a maximum load of 25kg, the acrylic sheet sample of 8t passed the durability test. 3. Scratch and Concealment Issue To prevent scratches, a hard coat is applied to the surface, and the backside can be treated with a blast process to create a smoke effect for concealment.
