basic information
The water absorption capacity (Cobb value) is calculated by converting the mass of water absorbed by paper or board under specified conditions to a per square meter basis. After conducting temperature and humidity control for 24 hours, a water immersion test using distilled water or similar is performed, and the weight of the test specimen is measured to an accuracy of 1 mg. JIS P 8140 is a Japanese Industrial Standard created based on ISO 535 (Paper and board - Determination of water absorptiveness - Cobb method).
